Faculty Preparations & Protocols:
- Collaborate with colleagues to design distance learning experiences for students in accordance with divisional plans
- Develop high-quality student learning experiences
- Provide authentic instruction and assessment
- Consider ways to focus on relationships and connections, not just content
- Post instructional material, assignments, resources, videos, due dates, etc. on appropriate platforms for students and/or parents to access (CCA Email, FACTS, Google Classroom, and/or shared files in Google Drive)
- Create cross-curricular work when possible to maximize efficiency
- Provide a live or recorded video message regularly for students
- Consider providing opportunities for students to interact with their peers online
- Communicate to students/parents the dates/times for online sessions that they will be hosting following the designated time schedule and will post the recording within two hours of completion
- Consider providing students with writing and journaling opportunities that connect to service in the household or other experiences in their life that promote growth in their life skills and contribute to the well-being of the family and family relationships.
- Create projects/choice boards that give students and families flexibility to complete the work in a subject that will interest and motivate the student.
- Create and communicate an alternative learning plan in the event that teachers or families cannot access the internet.
- Communicate with and provide timely feedback to students
- Communicate with parents, as necessary
- Maintain gradebook – grades should be completed and entered into the online gradebook within one week of the assignment being turned in by the student.
- Balance work and family by setting appropriate work boundaries that promote health and well being. Similar to the students, faculty should create a schedule that will promote spending time outside, exercise, healthy eating, plenty of rest, and attention to one’s own family.
