School Reopening Plan Version 2.0

Dear CCA Community,

We are pleased to provide Version 2.0 of our School Reopening Plan. This version differs from Version 1.0 in that it adds significant detail to each of the plan categories. However, we have made no substantive changes in our overall approach to reopening our campus since the first version of the plan.

As you know, our commitment is to provide maximum continuity in teaching and learning throughout the entire school year. We believe that we can operate safely while still delivering on our mission to shape lives for eternity. We strongly believe that being together in person is best for all of us and is worth the inconvenience of the mitigation strategies that we have had to put in place.

I am happy to report that over the summer; we have seen no cases of COVID-19. As summer break camp directors have instituted data-informed, common-sense mitigation strategies, roughly 90 students and 24 staff members have remained safe and well. This is encouraging to us as we prepare to welcome our students back to campus in just a few weeks, as we will be using many of the same mitigation strategies that have been used throughout the summer.

Please read this document carefully, as there are many new protocols in place for 2020-21. We are working on the final protocols for pick-up and drop-off in each campus, which will be forthcoming. Understanding how the new protocols impact you and your family is critical for a smooth start to the school year.

We will publish another version of the plan about one week prior to the start of school. That final version will be an addendum to this version and will provide last-minute updates about decisions and protocols that are still in development. This current version gives you most of what you need to know in order to prepare your family for the start of school.

As the school year progresses, we will be constantly monitoring the data and trends in Kent County as well as the recommendations from the CDC and other sources of guidance. We anticipate that some mitigation efforts will be relaxed over time and others may need to be enhanced. We are committed to flexibility, responsiveness, and clear communication as we walk together through a unique school year. Additionally, we are confident that God is with us and guiding us every step of our way (Proverbs 3:5-6; Proverbs 16:3; Proverbs 16:9).
