Parents are asked to support student learning by:

  • Providing an environment conducive to learning (with access to technology [as needed]; a safe and quiet space)
  • Engaging in conversations on posted materials, assignments
  • Supporting emotional balance by providing ample room and time for reflection, physical activity, conversation, and play
  • Spelling out clearly a proposed daily schedule agreed upon by parents and students. Having this established will eliminate confusion and provide a structure for success.
  • Ensuring attendance at online sessions scheduled by teachers or watching a recording later if not available at the time.
  • Providing help similar to the level you might typically provide for homework
  • Honoring school policies on student original work and academic honesty (ensure your child completes their own work)
  • Reviewing work and checking grades in the gradebook on ParentsWeb
  • Setting appropriate boundaries, including video classroom-ready clothing (“dress down” or jeans day attire)
  • Contacting appropriate persons with questions
    • Questions related to a course, an assignment, or a resource: contact the relevant teacher via email. If contacting after their scheduled office hours, please allow time for the teacher to respond.
    • A technology issue/request: contact our support team by completing a tech request here.
    • Other issues related to online/distance learning, please contact your building administrator.
