March 27th, 2020 – COVID-19 Update
Dear CCA Community,
In light of Governor Carney’s recent “stay at home” order issued for Delaware, we need to be prepared for a prolonged closure. Although this is not the desired outcome, we are going to have to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Please continue to join us in fervent prayer for a more expedient return to school and normalcy in our daily lives.
Thank you for responding so quickly to our survey. This information will help provide valuable information for us to improve the delivery of your child’s education. In addition, we are surveying teachers to make sure they are supported in their efforts. Thank you for your patience as we make adjustments to help everyone.
Online / distance learning for all age groups with appropriate content will continue to be provided by your child’s teacher. We will be providing a list of expectations for students, parents, and teachers, which will provide you with a better understanding of how to operate at home under these challenging circumstances. In addition, a website to provide resources and communication to help you during this time is currently being built.
Your administrative team has been meeting daily to keep up to date on developments and prepare to respond accordingly. We have been waiting for the federal government’s approval of a stimulus package to see what kind of assistance it will provide individuals, families, employees, and non-profits like ours. We want to make sure we are good stewards of the resources we have been given and that we create a plan for the sustainability of the school’s crucial role in the community. An announcement related to our financial plan will be communicated Monday, March 30th once we have a better understanding of the full stimulus package that is awaiting President Trump’s signature.
It is also important to note the following updates:
-
As of today, we still intend to have an Easter break for students, staff, and parents. We will not be requiring any new classes during the Easter break. We will follow the schedule already published on the calendar.
-
We will have graduation ceremonies one way or the other. Either on time or at a later date. These events are a very special part of the school year.
-
As of today, we will not be participating in standardized testing (Terra Nova) this year.
-
School yearbooks are already done and we will have more news about how to get your yearbook when they arrive.
-
Report cards will be emailed home next week.
One of our parents said it well when she said “sticking together is our best bet at this time along with lots of prayer!” We could not agree more. Thank you for being part of the CCA community and allowing us to be a part of your family. We miss seeing your kids and we cannot wait to have them back as soon as possible.
We are praying for you and we appreciate your prayers for us! May God preserve, protect, and provide for your family!
In This Together,
Aaron M Coon
